i didn't have anything to do today so i decided to dig through backup hardrive and see if there was anything fun i missed. i cam across my band shoot for Bleachy Bleachy Bleach! and man i wish i had the chance to do this shoot again. the band members were super awesome to work with and were very photogenic and interesting to photograph. but here is the one i ended up pulling out thanks again guys.

So i went to switzerland, originally we were suspossed to do the whole driving thing, but we all know how business goes, so we didn't get to do any of that. i stayed in a small town called la chax de fond. heres a sample of of whats to come. this was taken on the french swiss border in the alps on the road to chamonix france.

so i just got back to tahoe and took a bunch of pretty sweet pictures and some pretty sweet ones from san francisco too, but i accidentaly smashed my computer into the concrete yesterday afternoon. so im not sure if ill be able recover any of them. and two days before that i left my phone in reno. and apparently some kid named willy called his mom and said some really mean stuff, so when i activated it i got some pretty strange messages. but on a brightere last friday my dad told me i was going to europe with him for 18 days and that we were flying into switzerland, driving to northern germany, then driving to southern france, then back to switzerland. i leave tomorrow mornining at 7 am. wish me luck you prolly wont be seeing any photos from me for a while because of the lack of computer/photoshop. sorry, ill try to get them up sooner than later. maybe some cell phone photos in the mean time will do.

so as most you know i shoot nikon. but i came across this cannon commercial and though it was a pretty sweet way to run an ad campaign, its fun, it makes people smile, and they used the go! team as their song.

i downloaded a trial version of photomatix(its an HDR software), and its been pretty fun so far. everythign turns out like crazy saturated and really over processed looking but fun none the less. or maybe i just havnt gotten the hang of the program yet.

la manzanilla mexico

so some may know some may not. but i just spent 8 days in mexico doing photographic work for an organization called the great basin institute. the goal of the project was to take pictures of one of the last un changed mangroves(swams) in mexico. our goral was to take photos for a book they want to publish to help raise funds for their program. so my professor invited 12 of us to go and work hand in hand with a group of science students from the university of california, channel islands. but we were lucky enough to get to camp in tents on the beach, literally about 20 feet from high tide, in on of the most beautiful beaches iv been on. got to meet some really cool people and take some pretty cool photos as well. so here are a few from my trip i dont wanna put to many on in case they decide to publish any of them.

well last week it was practically spring agian. 55degrees plus. and sunny, i rode my bike and my scooter to work last week, then sure enough it had to snow again. it only snowed like 1 inch up here, but for some reason reno got more than 10. wierd but its suspossed to be over cast up here for the next week or so. either way looking forward to going to the bay.seein the dudes and hanging with the girls. hope all is well out there.

so we took daves sled out and hunted for like 4 hours for a place to set something up. the whole time we were tying to sled the back way up to northstar because there is a trail somewhere that goes there. and we thought we found it finally because you could like literally see the people on northstar from where we were standing. but the trail ended. with absolutly no where to go. but conveniently there was a really lice pow hill un touched so we took a couple there not much. the lighting was really flat but so im happy with what did come out. and while we were searching for the trail we stumbled upon a perfectly built tipi made from logs. which seemed picture worthy.

its hard to skate in truckee between november and april. for on obvious reason, snow! we watching it fall but this year more than any its seemed to be moer of a nusance than anything else. we just want to skate. so alex devised his own version of the classic "indo board" and we call it the "mondo board". alex almost has tre flips. so were gonna try to get sponsored.

i also recently got a new 50mm 1.8D nikon lense so i had to test out the clairity so i thought to my self what better than promoting a couple books that have done me well. so if your gonna choose any to read, id start with days of war nights of love. this books has changed the way i think and view the world. you can order it off www.crimethinc.com

40’s Girls and Ollie’s
F.g.o. has been a major part of my life since I was eleven years old. F.g.o. is what we called the skate park where we all used to meet before and after school from 6th to 12th grade. F.g.o. is a second family to me. We all look out for each other any way we possibly can and we all make sure we don’t screw up too bad. We all have our own personalities and we all love each other because of that. Yet we all have one thing in common. We love to skateboard. There is something about the culture and people you encounter that will change your life forever. There is something about the countless nagging of your parents to do something productive, and the constant pressure of drugs and violence that make you who you are. Fgo stands for (40’s Girls and Ollies) because those are the things that we all have in common. We love to drink, we love girls, and we love skating. I have been wanting to do this project ever since I started taking pictures. There is something about your high school friends that will never leave you. And for me that is FGO (besides the fact its tattooed on new) my friend have taught me more than I could ever learn from my school. They have showed me how corrupted society can be and how amazing the world is. I hope you get the chance to experience what these people mean to me though my photos. This is where I come from and how i became who I am

so iv been editing and printing lately but not realyl taking photos school and work have completely taken over my life i havn't even gotten to ride yet. but i just wrote this essay and im pretty syked on the conclusion of it. the essay is about consumerism in the 1960's and today. so let me know what you think.

With all of these pressing issues in the 1960’s it is amazing how far we have come, with people such as the housewives and the black panthers pushing through the crowd for us. It just goes to prove no one is going to sit and revolutionize the world for you, you have to find the problem, isolate it and do whatever is necessary to fix it. Whether that be, stepping out of the suburbs, or bombing police stations. The world needed to change in the 1960’s and the world needs to change today. In the 1960’s the world was controlled by the government and the white men who ran it, and supported it. Today the world is controlled by consumerism and the ever-growing corporation. The corporations of today run the government. They control what you eat, what you watch, what you hear, and what you feel. The people who are making your depression medications are the same people who produce your vegetables. And the people who package your potato chips decide whether or not we have a national health care system. The world is corrupted by corporations and government, and the only way to fix it is through revolution, and this revolution will be different than any other. This one means more work, more sweat, more blood, and probably more violence. We’re going to have to start growing our own food, creating our own entertainment, and finding ways to make ourselves happy without pills or drinks, and if we succeed this revolution will benefit everyone in the world. You will be forced to step out of your comfort zone just like the housewives of the 1960’s, and do things for yourself for once in your life. Not because your boss asked you to, not because the TV told you to, and not because the medication your taking made you think you had to. It’s going to happen because you want it, and because you want your life back.

yosemite national park

me and alex just decided to get up and go to yosemite we didnt bring anything. no water no blankets, no tent, nothing. just our skateboards and the clothes on our back. well we wernt expecting to spend the night but things go the way they go. we didnt end up getting there until sunset so naturally we decided it would be a great idea to spend the night there.

so we went to the general store got some food only th essentials(ie. bread, peanutbutter, a cucumber, a head of broccoli, a six pack of anchor steam and a fifth of whiskey). then we made a sign that said "spare blanket?" sat on the corner and aquired two wool blankets, a down throw blanket, and a 0 degree sleeping bag. crashed in the back of alex's car at camp 4 woke up to someone flashing their light into his car while we were sleeping, freaked out drove to the halfdome trailhead and finished the night. woke up drove to glacier point hung our fleet off the edge of a 2000foot cliff,

then walked into the forrest and sat for 2 hours

headed back down to the valley returned the sleeping bag. and drove home.

stopped at some hot sprngs in a little place called bridgeport ca. and then finished out journey all the way back to tahoe. it was an adventure, it was cold, and unexpected but none the less totally awesome and would most definatly do it again in a heart beat.

model mayhem, and studio work

so ever since i started this studio lighting class i have been pretty upidy about this website called model mayhem. its basically a website similar to facebook/myspace. where models, makeup artist, photographers, photoshop people, and hair stylists, create accounts and set meet times to do photo shoots some of it is done for free and others are done for money. just depends on the situation. if your interested in my account its right here. but i recently came across one of there photos of the day that i kinda fell in love with so im gonna put it up for you.

but i have been shooting my own studio stuff as well but i still have quite a ways to go buthere are a few of pat we did on monday.

so goign in i had no idea what i was getting my self into. the trip started off pretty rough we were up from sunday morning until monday morning at 5 am packing everything finally set sail ended up in gerlach at about 8 am monday morning took us an hour to get in. took most of the day to set up camp. and took about 2 hours to start drinking. ended up with robbie on the back of a trailor disguised as puff the magic dragon. met a new friend WHALES and started off the evening with shots of sailor jerry straight from the handle and woke up the next morning next to someones tent sleeping on their couch cushions at about 11 am the next day. all i remember is there were cops and a gay bar. and that i had one hell of a walk back to our camp the next morning.

but that is pretty much how the trip started. a couple of days went by and i ende dup meeting one of the most beautiful girls. and sat down and got to know her quite a bit. she was from truckee. she had dreads, and she had an anarchist tattoo on her right thigh. (sorry i dont have any photos of her)

aside from her i also went to the temple wrote some pretty important feelings on the walls and on our last night i watched all my words and everything i felt about them burn away. hope you all enjoy some of the photos there will be more to come

so tonights the night were going im gonna sleep under the american flag and hope the playa dosnt eat me alive. but this will be my new home on a side note iv been like overly facinated with photography lately more than usual. but iv really been into my roommate alex's (whos face is in the photo from the last post) cousin eric his blog is constantly blowing my mind. he also happens to be really good with one of my all time favorite photographers cole barash both of these guys photos are amazing you should really check them out. here are probably my two favorite from each and i have also been spending alot of time looking at one of my best friends sean basalyga's photos too here is a slide show the j man made which displays alot of seans photos some go back prettyfar but are pretty awesome aswell

so as most of you all know school has started. i am currently in the middle of my second 12 hour day down here at unr. posts may slow down but they may get even more often. i am finally getting to take the studio lighting class that i have been wanting to take, and conveniently broke the only flash i have. so you might be seeing alot of studio shots from now on.
also i will be headed to burning man in 3 days for a 7 day stay in the dessert and this is an event i have dreamed of taking photos at for a little over 3 years now. so that will be really good for me and hopefully for my portfolio. but sheckler decided to push one of our recliner chairs into the "lawn" the otehr day and the lighting and set up looked nice so i made alex sit and smile.

i know there mostly mor edog photos but iv been spending alot of time inside considering that its 104 degrees out every day. but besides the photos, jeff came into town on sunday night to visit brian who conveniently lives about 1 block from my sisters house. we all got a couple brews and got nasty with it, bike ridin, tomato stealin, and pizza eating good times. then yesterday i went back to brians and he introduced me to the saki bomb. witch apparently is one of those things your suspossed to do 4 of in a row! i was syked and it lasted till about mid night when i ended up finding my self hangin out wit his neighbors son, who was watching his moms house and we were drinking a highlife looking at the tomatoes we had stole again! i wish i had photos but no can do i decided no more drinking with my camera because shit breaks!

well today i started my week long stay here in Davis got here around 10 am which was immediately followed by a bike ride. i was hoping this bike ride was going to take me a couple hours, since i don't know where anything is here. we to my surprise i found the wells Fargo(my first stop) roughly after being on my bike for 3 minutes. put some money in. then headed over to this ice cream shop where my sister said i could potentially work for a week and ironically found it within 10 minutes of riding. so i kinda said " what the fuck, now all my shit is done and it only took 13 minutes" so i headed back to the pad turned on a movie and fell asleep for 4 hours. woke up to find out that my bike had a flat tire. so i walked out side to ride my sisters bike and realized she had no seat and it was locked(which she didn't leave me the code for) so i grabbed my skate board and decided to skate to the skate park which i figured would take me a bit. once again to my surprise the skate park was only 2 blocks from here house and it was on a bike path the entire way. got there skated what has to be one of the worst parks ever built (although it does have one pretty fun quarter) for a couple hours then headed back once again. so now my bike is in pieces because i tryed to put my seat post on my sister bike before i realized that her bike was locked. and i took off the whee cuz it was flat.

so mike V and my self had been talking about going to the beach for about the last or so. so he finally calls me sunday night and says lets go tomorrow so after a long night of partying(sorry no photos of that) i drove back from the city around 10 am and met up with mike called up our buddy ling ling, and steak knife and headed to santa cruz. first things first we had to skate what i believe is my favorite skatepark. ling ling was getting wild in the tube and mike V was crusing.

then secondly we headed to the beach, whats a trip to santa cruz without getting a little wet? so when we got to the beach of course there were beautiful women

but mike had some one else in mind.

havn't had enough to up date in a bit. been pretty boof nasty lately partying alot skating alot. and trying to figure out my life all at the same time. but last friday was one of my best friends 22nd birthday's (chaz). he threw him self an extravaganza which naturaly ended up in the police coming to his house. but the best part of them coming was that no one answered the door when they came so they stayed out side where pigs naturally belong, and couldnt do anything. it was amazing. we won finally. but here are some photos i took from that evening i tryed to do the whole natural light thing so let me know if you like or not?

as some of you may know im really into like abstract photography. about 6 monthes ago (while oddly enough browsing someones blog)i came across this website where they do a weekely interview with a fine art photographer. well this weeks was kinda interesting this photographer daniel gordon produces some real strange photograps. he cuts magazine clippings and internet print outs to create photos that arent real but are real at the same time. so if anyone else out there is interested in some strange photography heres the site its pretty cool though if this is your kinda thing

so the past week has just been about skating. once again. the ditch finally dried up, some tricks went down. then we ventured outside the skate park and ditch and actually skated some ledges from a bit ago and then back to one of those spots that will never get old, walnut grove! here are some photos. ps a few were no landers but i liked them anyway. see if you can tell which ones.

so today started off pretty good. woke up and went straight to visit one of my best friends of all time mike V. drove out to concord picked him up and went to the concord park. skated got a few photos. here they are.

then we decided to head out to the SRRB premier in sf everything was rollin along then next you know the pigs show up to play. they think there trying to create peace, we think there playing where there not wanted. it caused a rukus. alot of "get the fuck outta here's" and "you cant do that's". so we left after arguing for a bit. and headed back to the P.

this past month has been one of the most amazing monthes of my life. iv been everywhere i could imagine.got the chance to spend10 days in colorado backpacking around, 8 days in scotland on family paid vacation, came back to pleasanton for 30 minuites and headed straight to cal poly/santa barbara. tons of photos too many to put up here but here are a couple frommy travels. you can see more of them here

so for the last couple weeks iv been pretty busy didnt get much chance to post. sorry!im back in pleasanton now. and about to head off to scottland for a week. but basically just been skating a ton, driving alot, and recycling even more. so we found our selves talking about this spot we all used to skate a while ago. its a ditch just outside this really fancy golf course. for some reason this ditch has probably been here for like 20 years its got all this amazing skating stuff in it but the only problem is water. theres a small creek running through the flat bottom so you have to ollie over it before you can hit anything. needless to say it can cause some frustration for some people. so heres the photos pulled from the last two sessions of skating from the ditch.

after being in pleasanton for 16 days i finally made my way back to truckee. brought derek alan along for the ride. got up here decided to go swimmin, picked up alex, dropped off rent, skated incline village park, andheaded to sand harbor where we found nothing but clouds and rain but we went swimmin any way. thought id give HDR photos anothery try, and took a couple pointers from my buddy zak. so heres what i came out with

so i bike over to FGO to meet up with jon knox becaus he happens to be in town. low and behold as soonas i get there he tells me jeff is having a keg party and a band is gonna play. so naturally i get slightly offended that jeff didnt call me. so i give him a call, he says hes in davis and the party is definatly on so he drives to pleasanton and jeff pat jon and I head out to sf we get there and party on it was pretty ragin keg got tapped pretty quick so we had to barter with artwork and cash to get some more 40's. band played and we all got real loose. convinced a few people to let me slap them and they could slap me, tore my pants, pat chipped his tooth, got my arm tagged,fell 2 times, pat made out with a fat chick and we called it a night.

so off to sunnyvale for another sunny afternoon of skatboarding. took me and mike V a couple minuites to figure out where the park was but it all worked out . met pat derek lockyer and chaz at duh pork! skated the mini bowl and chugged some water then mozied on down to surf the wave! i rolled in and was content with that but we had three kids throwin down un fortinatly i missed pats flawless frontside bigspin but i did manae to catch a couple of derek's rather large no comply and mike V's shifty flip who could have made anyone think he was going frontside! after that skate session i drove out to sacremento and met up with alex and sheckler but i didnt manage to snap any skate photos but i did get a couple of the park we skated with quite the sunset. you can check those out on my flikr page.

so today i call up pat he said hes down town! so down town i go. we sit there for a minute and next thing i know chaz and jarrod call us up and say you wanna take some skate photos so naturally i was down. went to this rad fence spot got in trouble for climbing on the roof of a building,angle hunting. ended up with an ok fish eye angle but chaz decided to chump apparently th epressure of people held him down. so i asked if he had any stair tricks. and we headed to this new 7 stair. and he decided to pull through. so here they are!

so i went down to the bay for my sisters wedding and decided to stay for a couple weeks. just so happens jeff rolls into town with his buddy justin. gives me a call and says "im out side lets go skate" so we roll to the park call up pat, call up brenden, who also happens to be in town, call up jarrod, soon enough the SRRB kids rolled through and hey whatda ya know an old fashion after school special. skated FGO, skated new park, got a couple brews and did it up!

today me and dave made the trek down to rockland to see if the california's newest indoorskate park was up to par with what weve been hearing. so we whipped the miata around a few turns and eventually got there an hour later. skated for a sweaty 3 hours and decided that this shit was pretty good. definatly gonna stop there again next time i head back to the bay. check it out though

for those of you who dont know pooface is what i call stephanie (alex's to not be named at the moment because they dont believe in girlfriend and boyfriend stuff). i dont call her that because shes ugly or anythign shes actually quite cute. but anyway pooface decided itd be a good idea to steal a 20 foot by 10 foot american flag and donate it to the house. of course we were all more than happy to take it off her hands considering how much we all love america! but anyway no one wanted to cooperate with me and let me take photos of them so i got creative and took some self portraits. hope ya like.
